To be present, literally locking your laptop in your office

Trying to be a more present parent, which involves being lower tech. I noticed when I have my laptop downstairs, I tend to “just check one thing” and that one thing becomes a 40 minute distraction spiral. It also takes me away from everything else I actually want to do, like reading books, making art, and WATCHING a movie. I also have life-long ADHD and know myself enough to know that I need physical deterrents to not just grab it the second I need it. So I bought this $30 lock and locked my laptop to my desk, and put the key in a downstairs cabinet. The part attached to my laptop is very unobtrusive so it is still equally easy to travel with it and put it in a bag, but at home it is now functionally a desktop. Still working on having my phone away (see my Bloom rec!) but this is a massive improvement in my focus and attention.
